Once just a simple slab of timber providing a barrier against the outside world and weather, a door may previously have been given little thought (except maybe a lick of paint!)

The doors of today provide much more than the way to enter a property. In addition to providing a barrier against the weather, they’re now also thermally efficient to help reduce energy bills, open up homes and gardens with extra-wide openings – and glazed doors can bring copious amounts of natural light into living spaces.

Like the rest of its ground-breaking product range, industry-leading systems company Liniar has an ongoing programme of product development to bring to market new and technologically advanced fenestration products. Liniar has recently announced more enhancements to its popular Alumina door range – developments that are sure to be a hit with both installers and homeowners across the country.

What is Alumina?_ABL2890

When Liniar’s Alumina door system was first launched in 2016, it was an industry-first – a fully sculptured, fully aluminium door which could be foiled or powder coated, and which is also available as either a bi-folding door, a flush French door or a residential door.

Alumina is also fully accredited, proudly achieving its status as one of the most energy-efficient aluminium bi-folding doors on the market. A polyamide modular lock helps to reach U-Values as low as 1.2 W/m²K and the whole system is PAS24 compatible with Secured By Design status.

Alumina Door Close Up (2)Praised throughout the supply chain

Since its launch, Alumina has grown in popularity to become the bi-fold of choice for installers all over the UK. Not only is it up to three times faster to fit than other aluminium doors, thanks to its flexible bead (eliminating wedge gaskets), all doors are covered by the same simple profile guarantee as Liniar windows.

Homeowners fall in love with Alumina’s sleek lines, wide expanses of glass, smooth operation and the ability to make it match their home’s individual style, with a huge choice of colour options – the popular 7016 Grey exterior with White interior profiles are even available from stock.

There are also benefits for fabricators – unlike hybrid bi-folds, Alumina is simple to fabricate and doesn’t require specialist machinery.

Family friendly

The thresholds available for Alumina range from a cill-only option to a fully Part M compliant ultra-low threshold, with a choice of six different styles depending on the application and usage required. None of the thresholds need trench excavation, making them quick and easy to install.

New for the Alumina range

When Liniar creates a product, the innovation doesn’t stop there. The Design and Development team are constantly working on ways to make products more energy-efficient, technically advanced or easier to fabricate and install.

In the last few months, several new Alumina enhancements have been launched. The first is a frame extension kit, enabling Alumina doors to span up to seven panes wide (or a maximum of 8.5 metres) – ideal for commercial installations or offering wider, more expansive openings for homeowners looking to blend their indoor and outdoor living spaces.

A brand new 40mm add-on provides a versatile solution to unsightly trickle vents, with a sleek exterior for concealed ventilation. This component is designed to work with properties that either have deep plaster lines or when vents are required. Airflow has been fully tested and the add-on can be foiled to match the rest of the Alumina door for a perfect, seamless finish.

As we move through 2021 and beyond, expect the Alumina range to continue developing – look out for an addition coming soon that homeowners are going to love!
